Nos dias 5 e 6 de setembro, ocorreu nas instalações do Centro de Instrução de Blindados General Walter Pires o MERCOPLASTI 2015, Exposição de Plastimodelismo do Mercosul 2015. O Mercoplasti 2015 teve como objetivo promover a integração entre os praticantes do Plastimodelismo no mundo. O evento contou com um concurso de plastimodelismo que seguiu as regras da Associação de Plastimodelismo Internacional (IPMS International) com sede na Inglaterra.
Além disso, foram apresentados workshops com 4 dos maiores hobbistas da atualidade, Mig Jimenez, Diego Quijano, Rodrigo Hernandez e Alex Glass, todos europeus. Para abrilhantar ainda mais o evento e proporcionar material de pesquisa aos participantes, foi realizada uma exposição de viaturas blindadas, com destaque para o Carro de Combate Osório e o Renault FT-17, primeiro blindado da América Latina, adquirido pelo Exército Brasileiro, em 1921.
O Plastimodelismo é um hobby, que consiste em construir miniaturas em escala reduzida fabricadas na forma de kits plásticos com o objetivo de exposição estática. Os temas mais comuns no plastimodelismo são aviões, navios, automóveis, motos e veículos blindados. A maioria dos modelos retratam veículos militares, devido à grande variedade de formas e contextos históricos, se comparado aos veículos civis e também pelo fascínio que máquinas militares exercem sobre muitas pessoas.
O espanhol Mig Jimenez, especialista de renome internacional, destacou o apoio à atividade em sua página no Facebook da seguinte maneira:
“Really few times I have seen a whole military base helping in an organization of a model show….maybe with the exception of Saumur Museum and few others. But the case of SANTA MARIA city is exceptional because the Military Base it self is helping with everything for the incoming MERCOPLASTI event, in Brazil. All troops and comanders are in a hurry preparing the tanks and vehicles that they will show tomorrow to all visitors and participants.
They provide the rooms and materials to make this modelling event more interesting and organiced. The Army pretend to open the doors to the civils and I can prove it. They treated me incredible well allowing me to take photos to everything, even to stay among the tanks when they was moving them or cleaning. Most of the times, Armies don’t feel confortable with civil people moving around, but this was not the case here in Brazil. They are proud to show what they have, specially two incredible jawels: the OSORIO and a beautiful FT17 in running conditions.
They spend all day cleaning them and preparing for tomorrow show and I was able to take hundries of photos of all process. Here I want to share few of them. By the way, the modelling contest room will be placed in the training school, The models displayed will share space with the Leopard Turret Simulators, the perfect envoirement for such event.
While the rest of modellers from all South America come, I wait here, in this beautiful city of Brazil, with a incredible landscape and delicius food. With not doubt, Mercoplasti will be the big event of modelling for the future in South America, something similar to Euromilitaire or Moson in Europe, but sumerged in an active Tank Base. O CI Bld sempre realizou exposições e atividades ligadas ao plastimodelismo, desde a sua sede no Rio de Janeiro e poder sediar um evento internacional foi mais uma oportunidade de manter este vínculo com um hobby tão peculiar aos profissionais militares.
